چکیده

Computer adaptive testing (CAT) is a technological advancement for educational assessments that requires thorough feasibility studies through computer simulations to ensure strong foundations. This especially germane in Africa being adopters of technology, and this should not be done blindly without empirical evidence. A quasi-experimental design was adopted study establish methodological choices CAT ability estimation. Five thousand candidates were simulated with 100 items simulate the three-parameter logistic model. The simulation stipulated fixed-length test 30 items, while examinee characteristics drawn from normal distribution mean 0 standard deviation 1. Also, controls set control item exposure or use progressive restricted method. Data gathered analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean deviation) inferential (Two-way multivariate analysis variance: MANOVA) generated hypotheses. provided evidence choosing estimation methods as part efforts geared towards designing accurate programs higher education.

Computer Adaptive Testing with Empirical Prior Information: a Gibbs Sampler Approach for Ability Estimation
In this paper, empirical prior information is introduced in computer adaptive testing. Despite its increasing use, the method suffers from a weak measurement precision, especially under particular conditions. Therefore, it is shown how the inclusion of background variables both in the initialization and the ability estimation is able to improve the accuracy of ability estimates. In particular, ...
متن کاملEstimation of Software Reliability by Sequential Testing with Simulated Annealing of Mean Field Approximation
Various problems of combinatorial optimization and permutation can be solved with neural network optimization. The problem of estimating the software reliability can be solved with the optimization of failed components to its minimum value. Various solutions of the problem of estimating the software reliability have been given. These solutions are exact and heuristic, but all the exact approach...
متن کاملEmpirical Mode Decomposition based Adaptive Filtering for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Channel Estimation
This paper presents an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based adaptive filter (AF) for channel estimation in OFDM system. In this method, length of channel impulse response (CIR) is first approximated using Akaike information criterion (AIC). Then, CIR is estimated using adaptive filter with EMD decomposed IMF of the received OFDM symbol. The correlation and kurtosis measures are used to sel...
متن کاملInteractive Graphics for Computer Adaptive Testing
Interactive graphics are commonly used in games and have been shown to be successful in attracting the general audience. Instead of computer games, animations, cartoons, and videos being used only for entertainment, there is now an interest in using interactive graphics for “innovative testing.” Rather than traditional pen-and-paper tests, audio, video and graphics are being conceived as altern...
متن کاملEvaluation parameters for computer-adaptive testing
With the proliferation of computers in test delivery today, adaptive testing has become quite popular, especially when examinees must be classified into two categories (pass/fail, master/nonmaster). Several well-established organisations have provided standards and guidelines for the design and evaluation of educational and psychological testing. The purpose of this paper was not to repeat the ...
